“The nonbinding resolution has been an annual ritual for 18 years. The vote this time of 187 in support, 3 opposed and 2 abstaining underlined the utter lack of support for the 50-year-old American attempt to isolate Cuba. (Israel and Palau joined the United States, while the Marshall Islands and Micronesia abstained.)” – The New York Times

This reminds me of the results of another annual UN resolution.

“On many of the specific issues, J Street is AIPAC lite.  It accepts an Israeli state based on religion, not on equal rights for all citizens, specifically supporting the apartheid-like right of any Jew to “return” without affording similar rights to Christians or Muslims who resided in Palestine before 1948. Its Executive Director Jeremy Ben-Ami calls a one-state solution to Israel/Palestine with all citizens having the same rights a “nightmare.”" – Philip Giraldi – antiwar.org

I suppose the one-state solution in South Africa – with all citizens enjoying the same rights – is also a “nightmare”. Israel-Palestine is already one state, with the Israeli government effectively controlling all land and people between the Mediterranean Sea and the River Jordon. God forbid they should have equal rights.

Only in Dubai… I mean France.

“The shower at the Grand Palace was custom built for the 5ft 5in (1.6m) president in a listed building and had massage and surround sound radio functions, the UK’s Daily Telegraph newspaper reported.

The three-day summit during which it was intended to be used cost 16.6m euros to stage in total. Other expenses included £90,000 for a carpet and nearly £300,000 for a conference podium.” – BBC News
